Bitcoin treasury company acquires nearly 136,000 BTC through preferred stock financing, exceeding 0.5% of Bitcoin's maximum supply.

Tapbit news, October 25 - Fidelity data shows that since 2025, as of October 5, Bitcoin treasury companies such as Strategy and Strive have supported the purchase of 135,979 BTC through related preferred stock financing, exceeding 0.5% of Bitcoin's maximum supply. The market size of this type of preferred stock is approximately $12 billion. Analysts point out that these companies are facing the challenge of balancing Bitcoin purchases financed through perpetual preferred stock with continuous dividend payments.Perpetual preferred stock has no fixed maturity date, which can alleviate refinancing pressure and attract income-oriented investors unwilling to directly hold Bitcoin. However, as issuance scale expands, dividend expenses also increase. Analysts say that sustained financing for Bitcoin purchases depends on preferred stock trading at or near par value; if it falls below par value, the attractiveness of new issuance declines, and companies may be more inclined to repurchase.James Butterfill, Head of Research at CoinShares, noted that Strategy's latest weekly report shows the company spent $193 million to repurchase STRC, while purchasing only 267 BTC during the same period, and raised its preferred stock repurchase authorization to $3 billion. He stated that repurchases can reduce future dividend costs but also compete with current Bitcoin purchases for capital.Ryan Rasmussen, Head of Research at Bitwise, expects that ETFs will remain a larger source of Bitcoin demand in the long term, while perpetual preferred stock covers a different group of income-oriented investors, providing a second stream of demand support. Butterfill believes that preferred stock may amplify market cycles: when financing conditions are favorable, it supports Bitcoin purchases; when sentiment deteriorates, this support weakens.[Source]

Analyst: Bitcoin has shown significant pullbacks in every U.S. midterm election cycle; attention should be paid to the key support level of $73,000.

Tapbit news, October 24 — Crypto analyst Ali Charts posted that as the U.S. midterm elections on November 3 approach, investors may be overlooking the Bitcoin drawdowns that have repeatedly occurred in previous election cycles. He believes this election could again be accompanied by significant volatility, with downside risk warranting attention, and his key downside level to watch is $73,000.According to his statistics, in the U.S. midterm election cycles of 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022, Bitcoin saw drawdowns of 72%, 65%, 52%, and 27%, respectively. However, he emphasized that correlation does not equal causation, and the elections themselves are not necessarily the cause of the declines; these drawdowns were also influenced by Bitcoin's broader market cycle, liquidity conditions, and investor sentiment.Fourth-quarter returns show a similar pattern: in 2014, 2018, and 2022, Bitcoin fell 16.70%, 42.16%, and 14.75% in Q4, respectively. The only exception was 2010, when it rose 391% in the quarter, but Bitcoin was still in its early development stage at that time. Therefore, in three of the past four midterm election years, Q4 recorded negative returns.Regarding the subsequent trend, Ali Charts said the $73,000 level is close to the average purchase cost of current short-term Bitcoin holders and can be used to observe the positioning of recently entered investors. He noted that in an already established bull market, Bitcoin often finds support near the short-term holder cost basis after a significant correction. He believes that if selling pressure accelerates after the November 3 election and pushes Bitcoin back to around $73,000, that area will become an important level for testing whether buyers are still willing to defend the overall bullish trend. If the price continues to recover from that area, it would reinforce the bullish view; operationally, he will wait for signs of selling pressure exhaustion and renewed demand before considering establishing long positions.[Source]

Analyst: In each U.S. midterm election cycle, Bitcoin has shown a significant pullback, and attention should be paid to the key support level of $73,000

Cryptocurrency analyst Ali Charts stated that as the U.S. midterm elections on November 3 approach, investors may overlook the recurring phenomenon of Bitcoin pullbacks observed in previous election cycles. He believes that this election may once again be accompanied by significant volatility, and the downside risk is worth noting, with a key focus on the lower price level of $73,000. According to his statistics, during the U.S. midterm election cycles in 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022, Bitcoin experienced pullbacks of 72%, 65%, 52%, and 27%, respectively. However, he emphasized that correlation does not imply causation; the election itself may not necessarily be the reason for the decline, as these pullbacks are also influenced by the overall market cycle of Bitcoin, liquidity conditions, and investor sentiment. Fourth-quarter returns also exhibit similar characteristics: in 2014, 2018, and 2022, Bitcoin fell by 16.7%, 42.16%, and 14.75% in the fourth quarter, respectively. The only exception was in 2010, when it rose by 391%, but Bitcoin was still in its early development stage at that time. Therefore, in the past four midterm election years, three of those years recorded negative returns in the fourth quarter.Regarding the subsequent trend, Ali Charts indicated that the area around $73,000 is close to the average purchase cost of current short-term Bitcoin holders, which can be used to observe the positions of recent investors entering the market. He pointed out that in an established bull market, Bitcoin often finds support near the cost of short-term holders after experiencing a significant pullback. He believes that if selling pressure accelerates after the election on November 3, pushing Bitcoin back down to around $73,000, that area will become an important position to test whether buyers are still willing to maintain the overall bullish trend. If the price continues to rebound from that area, it will strengthen the bullish judgment; in terms of operations, he will wait for signs of selling pressure exhaustion and renewed demand before considering establishing long positions.
