Morgan Stanley confirms it is among the first banks to utilize DTCC's tokenization services.
Tapbit news, November 4: Morgan Stanley has confirmed that it has begun using DTS, the newly launched tokenization service of the U.S. Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), to bring U.S. stocks, ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries on-chain as tokens. Banks using the service in the same batch also include JPMorgan, Citi, Bank of America, Fidelity, and Citadel Securities. DTS launched on October 28 and is operated by DTCC's subsidiary Depository Trust Company (DTC), which mints tokenized certificates against custodied securities, preserving original ownership and investor protections, and allowing conversion between traditional form and token form and transfer into users' digital wallets.
Currently about 20 institutions have signed on, covering Russell 1000 constituents, major index ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries. The service has connected to the Canton network and DTCC's private Besu network, and plans to expand to more chains in 2027. Amy Oldenburg, head of digital asset strategy at Morgan Stanley, said that the practice of connecting tokenized securities to existing market infrastructure will continue to guide the company's digital asset capability building.
