CoinShares sees Thailand’s first crypto ETFs drawing only tens of millions initially
CoinShares expects Thailand’s planned listing of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, which will be allowed on Oct. 16, to attract only tens of millions of dollars in initial inflows, according to Cointelegraph.
James Butterfill, CoinShares’ head of research, said Hong Kong, despite being an international financial hub, accounts for just 0.42% of global crypto ETP assets under management. Butterfill added that some investors in Thailand already gain BTC exposure through offshore funds or direct trading, making it difficult for locally listed ETFs to attract large sums.
Under the new rules, retail investors in Thailand will also be allowed to invest in locally listed crypto ETFs. However, individual product launches still require separate regulatory approval, and no specific launch timetable has been confirmed.
