Security Reminder: Google Authenticator Cloud Sync Function

Dear users,

We would like to bring to your attention an important update regarding the Google Authenticator app. The latest update introduces a cloud sync feature that automatically synchronizes the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) codes generated by Google Authenticator to your Google account. However, this functionality may pose a risk of losing access to your 2FA codes.

To ensure the security of your assets, we suggest you disable the Google Cloud Sync feature. If you have already updated the app, please follow the instructions below to disable the feature:

  1. Open the Google Authenticator app and tap on the profile picture located in the top right corner.
  2. Select the option “Use Authenticator without an account and tap “Continue” to disable the cloud sync feature.

Once you have disabled the cloud sync, your Google Authenticator data will no longer be backed up to the Google Cloud, and synchronization between multiple devices will be disabled. However, your local data will remain intact.
