Trump reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open. Trump said the U.S. will eventually strike Iran’s energy targets, but those targets will be saved for last. Trump stated that unless Iran returns to the negotiating table, the U.S. will strike Iran’s power plants and bridges next week. Asked when he last spoke with the Iranian side, Trump said his representatives spoke with Iranian officials just this afternoon. Trump said U.S. officials told the Iranian side that Tehran had better reach a deal or end up with “nothing.” When asked whether he thinks Iran will reach a deal, Trump said Iran should do so, but he does not know whether Iran will.
