Gate has officially launched its new Proof of Security (PoSEC), becoming the industry's first digital asset trading platform to introduce a PoSEC security attestation system. PoSEC Focuses on Fund Storage Security and Quantifies Extreme Risk Coverage Capability

Unlike Proof of Reserves (PoR), which primarily verifies the sufficiency of asset reserves, PoSEC focuses on the storage security of funds, publicly disclosing the distribution of assets between the platform's cold storage and hot wallets to show the fund storage structure and the risk coverage capability under extreme scenarios.

PoSEC introduces cold storage coverage ratio as a core metric, measuring the extent to which cold storage covers all user funds. When the coverage ratio is ≥ 100%, it means that under the corresponding statistical basis, even if all hot wallet assets were lost, cold storage alone could still cover all user funds. PoR and PoSEC complement each other, expanding fund security verification from reserve sufficiency to storage security and risk coverage, providing users with more comprehensive and transparent fund security information.

Cold Storage Coverage Reaches 104.58%, with Storage Structure Publicly Transparent

As of the snapshot at 08:00 (UTC+8) on November 4, 2026, Gate's cold storage coverage ratio reached 104.58%, with cold storage and hot wallet assets accounting for 88.26% and 11.74% respectively. Cold storage covers digital assets held offline and independently custodied traditional assets; the relevant assets must meet conditions including not being directly involved in daily deposits and withdrawals, being kept offline or under independent custody, requiring multi-party authorization for transfers, and being verifiable.

Currently, the data for this period is being verified by an independent third-party audit institution, covering the authenticity and control of assets, valuation and statistical basis, and calculation of the coverage ratio. The audit report will be published on the official website once completed, enhancing the transparency and credibility of fund security information.

From PoR to PoSEC, Continuously Strengthening the Digital Asset Security System
