China’s central bank judged Solana’s promotional activity in China to be in violation of regulations and halted the offline "Solana Accelerate China 2026" event just before it was due to begin, the Financial Times reported.

A People’s Bank of China official said SOL is inherently a cryptocurrency and Solana also provides technical services for the issuance and trading of assets such as USDT. Under regulations issued by eight government bodies in February, the official said, promoting Solana constitutes a rules violation. Authorities plan to step up enforcement against cryptocurrency trading firms in China and China-linked organizations affiliated with overseas platforms. CoinNess previously reported that police were dispatched to a Solana Foundation event in Shanghai in October and the event was abruptly suspended.
