Ethereum Foundation researchers founded Ethlabs, receiving funding from Joe Lubin, BitMine, and Sharplink

DeepFlow TechFlow News, June 23, according to Decrypt, Ethlabs is a non-profit research and development organization founded by former Ethereum Foundation researchers, aiming to help the Ethereum network and its native token prepare for institutional adoption. The organization has received funding support from Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin, as well as public ETH treasuries BitMine and Sharplink.

Ethlabs Executive Director Ansgar Dietrichs stated that this is a unique moment for Ethereum to realize its potential and become a global shared settlement layer. The organization will initially focus on promoting large-scale institutional operations on-chain, with over 50 ecosystem contributors listed as community supporters, including Layer-2 networks, venture capital firms, and decentralized project parties.

Previously, the company had completed a $5.9 million Pre-Seed round led by a16z Crypto Startup Accelerator last year, bringing total funding to $11.9 million. The round is structured as SAFEs plus token warrants, with Franklin Templeton and Polychain securing board observer seats. Founded in 2024, Cambrian currently offers API services covering real-time and historical blockchain data on yields, risk, lending rates, trading activity, liquidity positions, and market sentiment. It plans to expand into a verifiable oracle network for institutions and AI agents. The platform is now live in production on Base and Solana, with the Alpha version of the oracle network completed, and integration with blockchain and DeFi partners to begin in the coming months. The company currently has a team of 10 and plans to hire blockchain infrastructure engineers and a sales lead.
